About Jasmin @aeonbloom1
Born in 1974, Jasmin (@AeonBloom1) is a South African based digital artist. Bloom has always been a mixed medium artist, from mosaics on buildings to fiber art installations. She started getting into 2D digital art 20 years ago, but only really got into it around 2017.
She has been featured in a Saatchi Art Collection. Since 2018, she has been showing her work in group exhibitions and hopes to continue now that the world is a bit more “open.”
How would you describe your work?
Style develops and it’s taken me years to figure out where mine is headed. I’d say Surreal naturalism. Plants, animals, space, all intrigue me, and my work often makes references to climate change.
How did you get started with NFTs?
In 2020, I was a founding member of Kolect.art – we sold licensed art to the music industry. In December of that year, we had a Zoom chat, members and founders, and Tim Hipworth mentioned NFT’s, and I was instantly intrigued. I spent some time finding out more before I actively started in February 2021.
How have NFTs helped you as a creator?
The exposure to other artists’ work has been inspiring. If anything, NFTs have really pushed me to be a better artist.
What advice would you give to creators who are new to the NFT space?
There’s so much! From etiquette to mental health. I think the most important things are to not give up, take rest days, and engage with the community.
How do you think OIX can contribute to your success?
NFTs are 90% marketing and 10% art, which leaves very little time to actually make art. Hopping from platform to platform is time consuming and at times, exhausting. OIX is everything in one space and I find this very exciting. We can mint, share and socialize all in one place. I believe that being able to focus energy on one space can only lead to a more solid connection with the community.
